Note: We strive to accommodate late orders, but in case of any stock challenges, we will contact you and arrange delivery for the following week.
Remember to leave your box and ice packs out for us to collect next time. If you happen to be away when your delivery arrives, rest assured that your produce will remain fresh and chilled for several hours, thanks to the inclusion of frozen gel packs or frozen water bottles. To maintain the highest quality, we recommend minimizing unattended time.

Organic food production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil
fertility and health, producing foods without the use of synthetic chemicals and fertilisers and
does not permit the use of genetically modified crops. Organic foods are minimally processed
without the use of artificial ingredients, hydrogenated oils, preservatives or irradiation.
It’s so much more than just ‘chemical free’. Organic standards stipulate allowable and prohibited
inputs, encourage active soil management, prohibit GMO’s , control processing inputs, and set
best-practice animal welfare standards. Farmer fees and levies are combined to fund ongoing
research and consumer education. But none of this can happen without the support of ethical
consumers who are willing to pay organic farmers a fair price for the fruits of their labour. So

“Over and unders” refers to the slight variations in weight that can occur when you’re buying
products sold by weight. For example, if you order a 1kg of apples, you might receive slightly
more or less than 1kg, depending on the exact size and weight of the individual apples.
“Over and unders” occur because it’s difficult to achieve the exact weight for every order,
especially for products like meat, fruit, and vegetables, which can vary in size and weight.
You are typically charged based on the actual weight of the product you receive. For example, if
you order 1kg of beef but receive 1.05kg, you would be charged for 1.05kg.
Our fresh produce only comes from CERTIFIED organic growers – some of the best farmers in
Australia! Our growers are predominantly in our local region – Gatton, the Lockyer Valley,
Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast Hinterland, Northern New South Wales – but we also get tropical
fruit from northern Queensland and the NT when in season, and a lot of our southern growers
supply us throughout the summer months especially. We only stock AUSSIE produce – never
imported (except the occasional kiwi fruit from NZ, and we think there’s some authenticity there
that’s worth supporting).

We only stock CERTIFIED ORGANIC produce. With groceries, or if you’re buying organic food
elsewhere, check to see the product has a certification label. Organic certification of a product is
there to assure you that organic standards have been followed. Organic producers undergo an
ongoing process of stringent periodic assessments throughout the entire production and
marketing cycle. Products labelled as Certified “Organic/Biodynamic” and Certified “In
Conversion” must have the appropriate documentation verifying authenticity, so consumers can
select with confidence genuine organic/biodynamic produce.
Certified organic producers are inspected annually by one of the national, independent
certification bodies. These are:
– Australian Certified Organic (ACO)
– The National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA)
– The Biodynamic Research Institute (Demeter)
– The Organic herb Growers of Australia (OHGA)
– The Organic Vignerons Association of Australia (OVAA)
These certification bodies, in turn, are accredited and audited by the Australian Quarantine
Inspection Service.

We’ll only sell a grocery item if it’s certified organic or at the very least the majority of ingredients
are certified organic. If certification details aren’t clear on the label, we contact the manufacturer
to ask who certifies the organic ingredient/s and ask for documentation to confirm it.
Biodynamic agriculture embraces organic principles and more. Its holistic approach is
influenced by planetary and lunar rhythms, and belief in cyclical regeneration of energy or
vitality from soil to plant to soil. This viital energy is encouraged with the use of specific
biodynamic preparations for soil, plants, compost and manure. It’s a fascinating approach to
food and farming.
No idea. Sounds fun though! If you want, we’ll sell you a case of tomatoes at cost so you can
have your own tomato-throwing festival at your house!
Absolutely not. No way. Never. Ever. Nu-uh. Nada. Zippo. Zilch. You-gotta-be-kiddin-me!
Selling conventional food isn’t our game. We promise we’ll only ever sell CERTIFIED organic
food. If it’s not available, hey, eat something else that week. Remember those things called
seasons? Apart from seasonal trends, there’s the problem that the organic market in Australia is
still rather small – there aren’t enough growers, wholesalers, retailers, consumers, etc. to make
everything flow smoothly all of the time. Many organic food manufacturers are small gourmet
producers who get caught out when their products get popular and they can’t keep up with the
demand. Hang in there though, ye faithful organic consumer…the more you support organics
now, the better it’ll be in the future as more food producers come into the market.
Only if we can’t get delivered to your house or work. You still pay a $5 admin charge, but not the
full delivery charge. Call us to discuss your needs.
The short answer is yes, usually they’ll still be frozen.
But here’s our official policy on this:
Frozen goods are dispatched at -18 degrees C, in an esky or cooler bag with ice bricks, and
delivered by either our own drivers or our courier service. While not usually an issue, due to
variables beyond our control, such as very hot days, time of delivery, when you get home,
delays in your delivery time, etc., we can’t GUARANTEE that goods dispatched frozen will still
be fully frozen when you receive them. However, we DO guarantee, for food safety reasons,
that they’ll be below 5 degrees C at the time of delivery, a guarantee that also applies to all
chilled goods.
Please note we do not credit frozen items that have partially defrosted upon delivery – they’re
still totally fine to refreeze, cook and eat.
It’s a lot like taking frozen goods home from the supermarket on a hot day. Personally, if I get
home and an item is partially thawed, I either throw it into the freezer and refreeze it or consume
it within a day or two. At the end of the day, it’s your judgement. Let us know if you have any
concerns or queries, and we’ll be happy to help where we can.
You can request a cooler bag with extra ice for your chilled and frozen products if you want to be
extra sure. It’s packed inside your styrofoam esky with your other goods. A $4 surcharge applies
for the extra ice.

Know what you’re eating
How can you be sure that the produce you buy from Farm Fresh Organics is really organic? Quite simply we only purchase certified organic produce from farmers who’ve been carefully inspected by one of the national independent certification bodies in Australia, as follows:
Aus – Qual is a relatively new Certifier of Organic Produce and products based in QLD.
Australian Certified Organic is the largest certifier of organic produce and the most recognised by consumers. This logo can only appear on products that meet the strict organic standard and are audited annually to check compliance. While audits are scheduled, 5% of audits are unscheduled, so can occur at any time.
The second oldest and second largest is the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture, Australia Ltd. NASSA certifies produce as organic or biodynamic. Labels indicate products are either ‘certified organic’ or ‘certified conversion’.
The oldest Certification organisation in Australia is the Biodynamic research institute, which administers the Demeter standard. This organisation only certifies biodynamic produce.
The Organic Food Chain is the most recent certification organisation to begin operating in Australia.
The Organic Growers of Austrlaia certification system was designed to be ethical, cost-effective, and charge no levies on organic sales
The Tasmanian organic-dynamic producers cooperative (top) certifies organic and biodynamic food grown or made in Tasmania
Through the use of printed standards, on-site inspection and multi-stage review of their application, organic producers seek to verify that their farming or processing facility and system meet the generally agreed standards for organic production. As a family we like the fact that Certified Organic Food production is transparent and has a clear audit trail from our shelves here at Farm Fresh Organics to the exact farm of origin.
While each Certification body has slightly different standards and procedures, they all meet minimum National Standards for organically produced products.
This standard is at the ground level the Farmers responsibility
Then the Certifiers to make sure that the Farmers maintain their Organic principles whilst overseeing both organic wholesalers and retailers.
The Organic Federation of Australia (OFA) is the peak industry body who over sees the Certifying bodies in Australia. The Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) is the Government body that officially oversees the entire Organic Industry in Australia with special recommendations where appropriate for involvement of government legislation relating to ACCC and The Department of Fair Trade.
The global Organic Market is overseen by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) which certifies the Certifiers of each country if they wish to meet the stringent standards of the international Organic market.
In Australia the Organic Certification system was set up in the 80’s to ensure that what was claimed to be ‘organic’, was ‘really organic’. In Australia we have 8 Certification bodies (see Certifications), each with a unique logo specific to that organization for easy recognition of Certified Organic product in the market place.
This organized trail ensures that the goods we purchase on your behalf meet the most stringent of standards. We have also traveled to many of our Farmers properties around Australia to know the people who grow the produce we sell to you. Obviously when buying Certified Organic fresh produce you must trust the people you buy from. 9 times out of 10 when buying fresh, as with farm Fresh organics, you do not see the box in which your produce has arrived. This box proudly displays the Farmers Certification details as proof of purchase. We welcome all enquiry’s into the produce we home deliver for you.
Getting a farm certified organic takes 3 years.
Year 1 – ‘under supervision’ – all inputs for the previous three years must be recorded, all inputs and exports for this year must be recorded; produce cannot be sold as organic.
Years 2&3 – ‘in conversion’ – In Conversion to Organic is a period where the farmer is recognized organically and able to sell his or her produce as Certified Organic, although the fruit and veg must be labeled ‘in conversion’. During this period the farmer is developing their systems under the supervision of their chosen Certification body.
Year 4 onwards – ‘Certified Organic’ is the highest level of Certification a farmer can reach. Farmers selling produce as ‘Certified Organic’ are experienced, extremely capable and have certainly had many years growing organic produce.
When buying Certified Organic Produce – especially at Farmers Markets – if you are not sure that the produce is Certified Organic ask the Farmer to show you their Certification registration. Organic Farmers who hold certification are very proud of the fact, and they will be delighted to demonstrate the authenticity of their product. Similarly in an Organic Shop, if you are uncertain of the status of a particular item, ask a staff member. A Certified Retail Outlet will be only too happy to provide you with the information you require. At Farm Fresh Organics we welcome any questions you may have in regards to our Farmers, our practices and/or the produce we have available.
Well this part is our job, we’re nuts about quality control and strive to only pack the freshest produce we can. If we ever miss something don’t ignore it, please let us know and we’ll credit you the value.
Be careful not to drop, cut or bruise your vege’s, as this causes damage to their cell walls and allows the cheeky microbes to get in and speed up breakdown. Once you have one rotting piece of veg, nearby ones will catch it quicker, so it’s best to throw out any bad pieces.
We are big fans of leaving dirt on our potatoes. Unscrubbed potatoes last longer than washed. Although if you’re the efficient type and like to scrub them so they’re ready for cooking, they’ll still last a good week in the fridge.
Leaving broccoli, pumpkin and celery whole where possible will increase the life of them. The skins on fruit and vegetables protect against air and microbes. So leave your trimming and chopping until you’re just about to cook.
Sunlight causes certain things to sprout like potatoes so unless you’re ripening your fruit or veg, store them in the dark (ie fridge).
Fridge temperature is a balance between two interests, minimising bacteria and avoiding loss of flavour. The warmer the fridge, the higher the chance of bacteria growth, but the colder the fridge, the more you risk your vege’s losing flavour. Vegetables from warmer climates like beans, capsicum, cucumber, eggplant, tomatoes and squash can lose their flavour if stored too cold.Generally, the ideal temperature for keeping vegetables fresh and keeping away bacteria growth is between 2˚C – 4˚C.
Loss of moisture is the main factor in ageing of your vege’s. The air in your refrigerator tends to be very dry unless you have one of those fancy fridges that minimises dry air. Higher moisture content vegetables like lettuce, herbs, celery spinach and other greens are best stored in plastic bags or containers to minimise moisture loss and wilting.
The flip side of moisture is that too much of it can cause things to go slimy. It’s good not to completely seal bags/containers for greens and high moisture content, a small gap is all thats needed to avoid sliminess. Otherwise paper bags do a great job of allowing a little moisture to escape while keeping enough in the vegetables to extend their life. Mushrooms are a great example of this. Store these in the brown paper bag we send them in.
Bananas give off stacks of ethylene gas when they are ripening which stimulates the ripening of anything they’re cuddling up to. So if you cant wait for your avocado to ripen, hitch it up in a paper bag with a banana. Conversely, if things are over-ripening, banish the ripe bananas. Similarly, apples give off this ethylene gas too, and will turn greens (like spinach, kale, silverbeet, broccoli, etc) yellow as quickly as overnight! Keep apples away from green in your fridge.
Non-organic citrus and apples store fine in a fruit bowl, because they’re treated post-harvest with fungicide and/or wax. Because organic fruit doesn’t have this nasty coating, apples will wrinkle and citrus will go mouldy within days out of the fridge. It’s fine to store ripening fruit out of the fridge, but once ripe, pop them into the fridge till you want to eat them. (except bananas – when they’re ripe just eat them! If you have more than you need, peel and freeze for your next smoothie-making session)
Avocados – Store on the bench until slightly soft, then move to fridge.
Tomatoes – Bring to room temperature before use, as this optimises flavour
Mushrooms – Store in paper bag in fridge
